BitMEX is moving toward exchange closure. All remaining spot pairs are scheduled to stop trading on September 21, 2026 at 12:00 UTC, with open spot orders cancelled. Convert support for remaining tokens is scheduled to end September 22 at 04:00 UTC.
What happens to balances
The end of spot trading does not itself mean a user’s assets disappear. BitMEX says withdrawals remain available and has told customers to remove funds at their earliest convenience. Users should distinguish between a trading deadline, a Convert deadline and any later withdrawal instructions.
What users should do now
Review every asset held on the platform, cancel unnecessary orders, record transaction history, and withdraw only to a wallet or exchange that supports the exact asset and network. Use BitMEX’s official site rather than links sent by direct message or social media.
Scam risk during an exchange shutdown
Closures generate phishing opportunities because users expect urgent instructions. A message claiming that a special migration wallet, recovery agent or seed phrase is required should be treated as suspicious. Never share a recovery phrase or private key to withdraw from a centralized exchange.
